Our Parish, Our Loyalty, Our Goals

Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is a parish united in full communion with Pope Benedict XVI, the successor of St. Peter, and the Most Reverend Joseph A. Pepe, Bishop of Las Vegas.

Bishop Pepe founded St. Francis parish in 2003.  The parish encompasses western Henderson and portions of southern Las Vegas, including the communities of Anthem, Green Valley Ranch, MacDonald Highlands, MacDonald Ranch, Seven Hills, Silverado Ranch, and South Fork.  In a few short years, the parish has grown exponentially in size.  With the Masses and programs in our present building, we are already beginning to burst at the seams.

Currently the parish needs to continue paying the debt for the land and current parish hall (temporary church) and begin saving for our next building – our permanent church!  One day, hopefully soon, the current altar and statues will be transferred into that church.  Eventually, our campus will also include a school (K-8).  These accomplishments depend on your continued generosity.  The timing depends on you!

12 Guidelines for Fruitful Giving

1.       Give first. Make the first use of my income an act of faithfulness to a loving Lord.

2.       Give gratefully. Bring to mind God’s gifts and ways this money can matter for eternity.  Praise him, and remind myself of the joy and privilege not of giving, but giving back.

3.      Give faithfully. Cultivate the discipline of faithfulness regardless of how I feel at the time.

4.      Give proportionally. Compare my gifts to no one else’s, and happily give from my resources.

5.      Give generously. It seems like a natural law, and certainly it is biblical, that the way we give and live is measured back to us. I will give as I would love to receive.

6.       Give sacrificially. I know and God knows when a gift comes from my heart.  Practice giving in a way that expresses my love for God’s kingdom.

7.      Give cheerfully. God delights in and loves a cheerful giver.

8.       Give freely. Attach no strings or expectations; seek nothing, particularly public recognition, in return.

9.       Give personally. Invest myself, my time, and my talent. Involve myself in the privilege of returning to God with the first of all I have. Allow each member of my family the same opportunity for personal involvement.

10.    Give quietly. Give without fanfare. God sees, and that is all that matters.  Never seek to draw attention, but be prepared to explain why I give as a witness to others.

11.    Give expectantly. Look for ways to share my gifts, bear another’s burden, or contribute my resources to God’s kingdom.

12.    Give worshipfully. Our model is the author of giving, God himself:  “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son” (John 3:16).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is it necessary to make a commitment? The pledge made is not a contract, but a simple statement of intent.  For future planning, especially in order to forecast when the church can be built, knowledge of what dollar amounts to expect is essential and critical.

Can’t I just give in the second collection?  The primary purpose of the second collection is to give visitors to the parish an opportunity to support the building fund.  Unpledged donations made to the second collection go to the same fund, but they are not budgeted as part of our long-term strategic planning.

How will the commitment be made? Each family will be asked to complete a pledge form.  No money needs to be paid when making the pledge.

Is my commitment confidential? Absolutely. It will not be used in any public way.

If necessary, may I change my commitment?  Of course. Should changing circumstances lead you to alter your giving plan, just let the parish office know that you would like to adjust the amount, either higher or lower.

“The choicest first fruits of your soil you shall bring to the house of the Lord, your God” (Exodus 23:19).

The first fruits are the portion of the harvest offered in thanksgiving to God.  The first fruits are also the finest of one’s produce. Jesus is God’s first fruits which he has given to us.  Now, we give our first fruits back to God in return.
